Close to Africa Foundation Booth and Craft Workshop
At the booth, visitors can learn about the organization’s work, which in recent years has focused primarily on Africa, particularly Mali and Rwanda. It has enabled more than 250 children and 16 university students to attend school. The organization has implemented school development projects, including drilling wells and building classrooms and handwashing stations. In cooperation with the Hungary Helps Agency and with the support of Richter Gedeon Nyrt., they established and operate the House of Hope in Mali, which provides shelter for girls and women fleeing violence and forced marriage, as well as educational opportunities and training to help them start over. As a new initiative, they have established a social enterprise called Hint of Africa. The enterprise’s products include clothing and home decor accessories made from recycled African materials, which can be viewed at the booth and taken home in exchange for a donation to support the foundation’s operations. Their goal is to bring Africa closer to people while raising awareness about the importance of sustainable fashion.
The booth also features a craft workshop, with collage-making activities for kids and adults alike! Participants will create a large collaborative artwork with an African theme based on a pre-drawn template.
